From Tuesday April 13 thru Saturday April 17, 2010, the U+R CDRC had a productive five day community charrette that set the framework for the Scotlandville Comprehensive Community Development Plan (SCCDP) at the School of Architecture at Southern University.

Community Visioning Session

On Saturday March 6, 2010 at the Southern University School of Architecture, on the 2nd floor from 9:30 am—2 pm, The adults of Scotlandville had a chance to develop their vision for the future of Scotlandville. The visions from the community set the framework for the community charrette, that will lead into the development of the Comprehensive Community Development Plan.

Youth Visioning Session

Listening Tours

Fall of 2009, the resident of Scotlandville had their chance to express their concerns. The listening tours allowed residents,
neighbors and other stakeholders to
have their voices heard. This was
8 weeks of events was taking place on
Tuesday evenings from 6 pm – 7:30
pm, started October 6 and ended
December 8, 2009.

Schools Competition - Future of Scotlandville

The Southern University School of Architecture, the Urban+Rural Community Design Research Center (U+R CDRC) at (SUSA), and Center for Social Research (CSR) hold the student design competition for the “Future of Scotlandville”. The competition is intended to challenge students, and to explore a variety of design issues related to the student’s vision for the “Future of Scotlandville”.

U+R CDRC Grand Opening

Urban + Rural Community Design Research Center (U+R CDRC) opened its door to the public on November 30, 2009. The U+RCDRC provides specific technical assistance in architectural design, planning and construction management in the project area.

Saturday September 18, 2010, students and teachers from Southern University, along with community volunteers worked together to cut grass and clean eight lots along Goudchaux Street, from Scenic Hwy to Pembroke Street, the “SCENIC SWEEP” cleanup. This was a part of the Keep Baton Rouge Beautiful campaign.
