Scotlandville community is working with the U+R CDRC and southern University School of Architecture to develop a Comprehensive Scotlandville Community Plan. The initial phase of the joint resident-community organization- U+R CDRC effort is to provide an opportunity for Scotlandville residents to outline their vision for the future of Scotlandville. Several community meetings had been hold over the last several month for friends and neighbors to have their voice heard.

- Scotlandville Schools Competition

The Scotlandville Schools Competition was intended to challenge students, and to explore a variety of design issues related to the student’s vision for the “Future of Scotlandville”. This project would allow students to explore various scenarios for the future vision of the Scotlandville community.

The outreach activities occur three times a semester which help strengthen the communities where we aim to make a difference. Members of the U+R CDRC along with faculty, staff and students from Southern University have engaged with Scotlandville residents in community outreach activities.

- Scotlandville Visioning Sessioin
|

A Vision is a shared realization articulating graphically and/or written, the community’s preferred future. The community visioning process seeks to identify the core values, beliefs, and ideals shared by the community. Community visioning offers local residents new ways to think about and plan for their long-term future.

- Scotlandville Community Workshops

On Tuesday February 2, 2010 the Scotlandville Community Workshops began at the Scotlandville Library. The topics for the workshops were chosen based on information received from the Listening Tour and more workshops will be conducted next semester based on additional information gathered from residents.

A Charrette for community development, is a series of compressed meetings and design sessions used to facilitate creative problem solving with a multidisciplinary team of professionals, stakeholders and interested parties. This 2-7 day community participatory process includes three feedback loops in order to create a feasible plan that is informed by legal, financial, environmental, social and economic disciplines. By accelerating decision making, and encouraging people to abandon their regular working patterns promotes “out of the box” thinking.
